CARBONX Carbon Fiber Nylon Filament
CarbonX™ Carbon Fiber PA12 is a high-performance filament engineered for industrial applications requiring extreme dimensional stability, high heat resistance, and superior chemical tolerance. Combining high-modulus carbon fiber with a specialty Nylon 12 base, this material is ideal for producing lightweight, rigid tools, fixtures, and aerospace components.
Key Features
- Thermal Stability: Features a Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT) of 150°C and a Continuous Use Temperature (CUT) of 120°C.
- Dimensional Precision: Extremely low shrinkage and warping ensure reproducible, high-tolerance part measurements.
- Low Moisture Absorption: Superior to PA6 nylons, ensuring mechanical property retention even in humid environments.
- Superior Rigidity: Reinforced with 5-10 micrometer carbon fibers for high tensile strength and stiffness.
- Chemical Resistance: Robust resistance to a wide range of industrial chemicals and solvents.

Printing Recommendations
- Nozzle Requirements: A hardened steel nozzle is required. Carbon fiber is highly abrasive and will quickly wear out brass nozzles, leading to extrusion failure.
- Minimum Nozzle Diameter: 0.4mm.
- Layer Height: Ideal layer height is 60% of nozzle diameter. Do not print layers smaller than 0.2mm to prevent clogging.
- Support Material: Compatible with AquaTek™ water soluble X1 USM Universal Support Material.
Safety
Abrasive Material: This filament is significantly more abrasive than standard plastics. Ensure your 3D printer is equipped with a wear-resistant nozzle (such as hardened steel or vanadium) to prevent inconsistent extrusion and equipment damage.
